UNESCO’s action on World Cities Day – Discover the new Creative Cities

The UCCN Secretariat is pleased to inform you that the results of the 2023 Call for Applications are now available.

On the occasion of World Cities Day 2023, the Director-General of UNESCO designated 55 new cities to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, in acknowledgement of their strong commitment to harnessing culture and creativity as part of their development strategies, and displaying innovative policies and practices for human-centred urban development and sustainability.

Moreover, the Organization is also celebrating World Cities Day 2023 through a variety of events and activities organized by the member programmes and networks of the UNESCO Cities Platform (UCP). Driven by a shared vision of a sustainable urban future, the UCP and UNESCO cities around the world are active agents for change towards a more sustainable future for all, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda, for the implementation of its Sustainable Development Goals, and beyond.
