The 10th Hanoi Book Fair – 2025

The 10th Hanoi Book Fair – 2025 is an annual cultural reading event, practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of the success of the August Revolution (19/8/1945 – 19/8/2025); National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam(2/9/1945 – 2/9/2025); the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2025); and 26 years since Hanoi was recognised by UNESCO as a “City for Peace.”

The event aims to communicate the nation’s historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions, foster pride in the thousand-year civilised and heroic legacy of Thăng Long – Hanoi; encourage and develop a culture of reading among the public; move towards building a learning society; and contribute to shaping the image of Hanoi people as elegant and civilised.

Activities at the Book Fair include displays and exhibitions of books and materials about Thăng Long – Hanoi, along with technology products, innovation initiatives, and digital transformation applications in publishing aligned with the Book Fair’s theme, helping to communicate the significance of major national and capital anniversaries.

The Book Fair features booths displaying and introducing books and publications from both domestic and international publishers and distributors with rich and engaging content. Throughout the fair, numerous author meet-and-greets and thematic talks with well-known writers will take place, offering opportunities to listen to insights and explore fresh perspectives on culture, history and everyday life.

A highlight of the Hanoi Book Fair 2025 is the introduction of new experiences through digital transformation applications in publishing and the cultural industries. Notable examples include: the “Thăng Long – A Thousand Years of Civilisation” bookshelf; the Temple of Literature – Quốc Tử Giám digital bookshelf; interactive Q&A with Cụ Rùa AI; VR360 virtual reality experiences; interactive GIS applications to look up information on the latest 34 provinces and cities, view digital maps; and mobile libraries.

Some featured programmes include:

  • A discussion themed “Two Generations of Generals – One Historical Current,” with guests Major General Hoàng Kim Phụng, former Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, and a representative of the family of late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyễn Chí Vịnh, introducing a four-book set: Stories about General Nguyễn Chí ThanhJourney for PeaceLetters Sent North and SouthNguyễn Chí Thanh – A View from Posterity (Alpha Books);
  • A discussion and introduction of the historical novel series “Vạn Xuân” by French author Yveline Féray, with guests literary critic Phạm Xuân Nguyên and writer Hà Thủy Nguyên (Women’s Publishing House);
  • A book launch for “The Land of Mist: The Search for Memory Glue,” with an exchange featuring translator Ngân Hà and Dr. Nguyễn Thụy Anh (Kim Đồng Publishing House).

After ten editions, the Hanoi Book Fair has become a familiar cultural meeting point for the people of the Capital, readers nationwide and international friends—contributing to the goal of building a civilised, elegant and sustainably developing Capital in an era of integration.
